Spelling
Go online to http://www.tutpup.com/ and complete spelling races with other people around the world. Our blog http://reremoanaroom62012.blogspot.co.nz/ has instructions on what to do. If you find you can’t do it at home you will get time in class.

Keep track of your progress and learn the words you get incorrect. Make a comment in the comment section of the Spelling blogpost and let me know how you are going. Don’t forget to put your name on your comment. You may need someone at home to help you.

Reading
Spend this week practising your part in the play. Ask someone at home to be all the other parts. Try to learn your lines off by heart and take on the role of that character.

Book Week
Start creating your costume for the book character that you will come dressed as next Friday. It is helpful if you have the book at home to help you. We have been doing character descriptions in class, so this will help a lot.

Draw what your character will look like. What do they wear? Do they have any unusual features?

Homefun to be handed in on Monday morning!

Week 6 (Tuesday 21 August -  Monday 27 August)

Literacy
Please complete the contractions worksheet. This week we have been working on contractions in class.

A contraction is a word made of two words that are put together and then made shorter.
For example: can + not = can't and are + not = aren't

The ' (apostrophe) takes the place of letters that are taken out of the word.
In the contraction can't, the ' takes the place of the letters n and o. See: can not = can't

This book is so good I
can't stop reading it!

This book
isn't contracted - it's expanded!

Week 2 (7 February - 13 February)

You and Your Family

Task:
Make a poster to share with the class that tells us about you and your family.

You have been given a blue sheet of paper for you to complete this task on. You may use anything you like from home to decorate this page, but it must include this criteria:
1. A large bold title
2. A border
3. A picture (drawn or photo) of your family
4. Write four facts about your family and draw some pictures to match. These may include: holidays spots, pets, hobbies, parents jobs etc
5. Colour all pictures carefully

You have this week and all weekend to complete this task. It is to be brought to school on Tuesday morning to share and display on the wall.

I will be updating this post once I share the criteria with the students. Mrs M (:

Reading:
Please read every night. There is a box of readers in the class for you to choose one to take home each night or you can read books you have at home.

When you read a lot you get better at reading.
Remember to read to someone at home for 10 minutes!
