Multiplication Magic

We have been learning to use skip counting to help us to multiply. We have learnt to skip count in twos and tens. We have also learnt that we need to make 'groups of' when we work out a multiplication problem.
The videos below show that we have learnt to make 'groups of' and use skip counting to work out the correct answer.
We are also learning to divide. This is a bit more difficult to understand.

Week 5 Homefun

This will be added to the blog tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. Read your new reader tonight and pracitse counting forwards and backwards in 10s to 100

Colour Confusion

This term Reremoana School students have been exposed to some amazing experiments run by the teachers. Today Room 6 was lucky to experience an experiment called Colour Confusion.

We used the senses of sight, taste and smell to try to determine what the four flavors were. To make it confusing food colouring was added to change the colour of the juice.

Was the yellow juice pineapple?
Was the green juice lime?
Did you get any right?
Was our sense of sight stronger than our sense of taste?

We will be adding some interesting conclusions by the students in Room 6 very soon....watch this space.

Our Starving Frogs

Now that the cold weather is on it's way our classroom frogs need flies bought for them. These are available for purchase at Animates in Takanini for about $18. The fly container lasts about two weeks. Would you like to donate a container to the class? If so please email Mrs Majurey she will let you know when will be a good time to get some.

Science Ignition Day

On Tuesday 1 May the whole school got to experience a multitude of science experiments.
In the morning the Pukeko team learnt about magnetism and what happens with magnets using the north and south poles. They learnt some interesting stuff. Here are some photos to show what happens when we do different things with the magnets.

After morning tea each student had three different classrooms to go to to watch the teachers do their experiments. Some fun experiments were called Boo Bubbles, Colour Confusion, Gloop, Icey Ice Cream, egg in a Bottle and Lava Lamps.
