Exciting EOTC

We are getting ready to begin our exciting EOTC programme, which begins on the 3rd of December. Here is what we have planned:
Monday: Water safety session at the Sykes Road pools (10.00am - 11.00am).
Tuesday: Art session with Graham Braddock (9.00am - 10.30am).
Wednesday:  Maraetai Beach rotation of activities  (9.00am - 3.00pm).
Thursday: Storm Water Ponds, looking at pond life (1.30pm - 3.00pm).
Friday: Top Town, rotation of fun games (9.00 - 12.00)

To help be prepared for the Storm Water Pond trip each child needs to have made a water scoop to collect water from the pond. Use the guide below.  This will be your homefun for week 7. I hope that someone can help you!

Building Big Mac's

In Room 6 we have been learning about burgers as part of our food technology unit. We looked on you tube and watched a video clip of how they make Big Mac's at McDonalds. But we wanted to know how we could make them ourselves. So we searched for and found a clip from Todd Wilbur who shared all of the secrets, even the recipe for the special sauce.

 

 

 

We put the special sauce in the fridge until we were ready to make our burgers before lunch.

Now to make the burger!

 

 

Here is our procedure:

 

Marc says, "My Big Mac was large and wide."

Keegan says, "I like my Big Mac because it was super tasty."

Rudi, "I liked making a Big Mac because I liked cooking."

Jamie, "I liked the salad in my Big Mac."

50% of the class say that we made better Big Macs than McDonalds.

EOTC

Our Education Outside the Classroom is coming up, beginning Monday 3 December. Another notice will be going home tomorrow with those children who have not yet returned their permission slip (there are quite a lot). Please return them to school signed asap.

We also need more helpers. We can not go ahead with the out of school trips if we do not have the parent help for transport or to cover our safety ratio of 1 adult to 4 children in or near water.

Can you help? Please check your calendar and if possible make arrangements to help on one or more of our EOTC days.

The fee for this week is a flat price of $40, this needs to be brought to school also. We have eftpos at the school office. Or cheque/cash can be put into an envelope (with childs name, class, and EOTC written on it). Thank you to those who have paid already.
